Date Milkshake
I have been extremely busy with several different projects lately, so I have a super simple post today. Even amidst the chaos and pressure of juggling so much work, I find it is worth it to take a few minutes break to enjoy some of the simple things in life… like a creamy date milkshake!
If you use the low-fat kind of ice cream, this can really be a healthy snack. I usually make smoothies with frozen fruit, milk, and yogurt, but I thought dates deserved a little something special.
I absolutely love to snack on dates, but they tend to be one of those snacks that “once you pop, you can’t stop”. I can “never eat just one”. LOL. Do you like all the potato chip references? Well, I can promise that this sweet treat is way more satisfying than any handful (or five or six) of greasy potato chips, and will be much easier on the waist-line.
Date Milkshake
INGREDIENTS
- 5-6 pitted dates
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1-2 scoops vanilla ice cream
- ice (optional)
METHOD
1. Blend dates and milk until well incorporated.
2. Add ice cream, and blend more. I like to cut back on the ice cream (to keep the calories lower), so I add in a few ice cubes at this point to compensate.

Looks delicious, Seth. I love dates (and figs, as you know), but have never tried them in a shake. Sounds great!

Wondering if you have tried this without ice cream? I think I’d like a date shake myself but without the heavy dairy. Slurp.
