Halloween Candy Buy Back

What a great idea! At halloween buy back.com, there is a network of dentists that will buy your Halloween candy from you for $1/lb. They then donate the collections to troops overseas.
I don’t know about you, but I ALWAYS buy too much candy, and am never able to give it all out, and I don’t even have any lil candy solicitors of my own yet. I try to avoid eating those types of goodies on a regular basis, but when there are stashes of them around the house after Halloween, I find myself compulsively gravitating toward them. And THAT my friends is NOT good for the belly!
Designed to prevent a few cavities from our sugar inhaling youth, I think this program is great in so many ways. According to the website, kids across the world consume 50 million tons of sugar annually! Sure, some kids may be a little reluctant to give up part of their hard earned stash, but they might be a little more easily convinced if they know they can get a couple of bucks for it, to go toward that next toy they want!
So, then where do those toxic, sugar laden sweets go? The dentists are encouraged to ship them out to the soldiers serving overseas. In a place where little gestures can make a big difference, I think a gift basket full of sweets to hand out can be an amazing thing. Of course, a little sugar is not a bad thing, especially when you are in as good of shape as those soldiers.
Please do your kids, and your waistline a favor, and donate/sell some of your leftover candy to this great cause! Thank you to the people behind, and dentists involved with, Halloween Candy Buy Back. And of course, a big THANK YOU to the men and women serving our country, who are away from their loved ones this holiday season.
Question of the Day: What is your favorite Halloween candy?
Me, I love Reese’s peanut butter cups. But I can easily be tempted by Twix and Kit Kats.

Wow! That IS a really great idea…I never participate in Halloween though, so sad…
My favorite candy would have to be DOTS. Sometimes Baby Ruth, or Snickers.

Definitely runts, but no one was ever handing those out!
